Associate Dean of the Faculty for Student Academic Affairs - Student Opportunity Funds
Purpose:
The Student Opportunity Funds, administered by the Dean of Student Affairs, are provided by generous friends and alumni of the College and by the President of the College. The funds offer grants in support of worthwhile student co-curricular and leadership initiatives. The amount of the award, usually between $200 and $250, is dependent, in part, upon the total dollars available for each semester. For funding related to academic projects or travel-to-present, please apply for a Student Opportunity Award obtained from the Office of Student Academic Affairs.
Criteria and Procedures:
Requests for grants during the Fall 2024 semester must be received by November 8, 2024.
Requests for grants during the Spring 2025 semester must be received by March 7, 2025.
Applicants must be full-time matriculated undergraduates, must demonstrate the merits of their proposed project or enterprise, must describe how the activity will enhance the student's education, explain the potential benefit of the project to the larger Skidmore community, and provide a detailed budget request. Funds may be used only for the purpose designated in the application; any unexpended funds must be returned to the College. Given the limits of available funds, no summer projects will receive grant support. Successful applicants agree to file a brief project report and expense report (including receipts) with the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs after completing their funded activity.
